Evolution Of The Middle Finger

Millions of Americans witnessed a "middle finger malfunction" during Sunday's Super Bowl halftime show. The British singer M.I.A., dressed as one of Madonna's Romanesque cheerleaders, "flipped the bird" at the end of her rap during the song "Gimme All Your Luvin'." Audie Cornish talks with Ira Robbins, a professor of Law and Justice at American University, about the evolution of the insulting gesture. Robbins first started researching it as a First Amendment issue.
