Golfing on Conservation Easement Land?

Albemarle County-based Trump Winery hopes to build the Trump National Golf Club on land acquired from the Kluge estate. Trump would need a special use permit from county authorities to put a golf course on rural land.

Big City Graffiti Mural Under Harrisonburg

The street artist known in cities as "Bombproof" or just "BMBPRF" has Harrisonburg roots (EMHS Class of 2000) and in November of 2013, he returned to paint a tribute mural.   Apparently, the picture is in the Black's Run tunnel system. The image is a little edgy, a little funky, and a lot of: duck.

School Bomber Foiled by Tipsters and SRO?

An apparent would-be terrorist did not get a chance to launch plans concerning Stonewall Jackson High School; a School Resource Officer (SRO) alerted by Northern Virginia sources who were tipped off by watchers of social media helped prompt a successful bomb squad raid.

School Police Funds Restored in Albemarle

During budget cuts in 2008-9, Albemarle county's public schools lost "School Resource Officer" (SRO) funding. SROs are uniformed police officers in schools who once had the somewhat mellow duty of giving "Just Say NO" talks and of being law enforcement's goodwill ambassadors among school kids.  However, the recent wave of mass shootings has rekindled interest in having trained first-responders present in schools.

Harrisonburg Gets More Artsy Films

Downtown Harrisonburg's Court Square Theater has ramped up the number of films it shows. Now they often have movies daily.  They favor artsy cinema unlikely to appear at chain multiplex moviehouses. Woody Allen's latest film, Blue Jasmine, is hitting their screen.

All "Songs" Considered Stars Played Charlottesville
