Books & Brews, May 3

Apr 18, 2016

Our May 3rd Books & Brews will feature journalist and visiting senior research scholar at the University of Richmond, Stephen Nash. Nash is also the author of Virginia Climate Fever: How Global Warming Will Transform our Cities, Shorelines and Forests, a very readable book that brings the timely subject of global warming home to our own Virginia backyards. He explores both the science and the economics of climate change in our state, as well as introducing us to the people actively involved in formulating the discussion about it.

Prairie Home Productions

Update: As of 4/18/16, WMRA's trip package is SOLD OUT. Call (540) 568-7897 to be added to the waitlist.

WMRA is once again heading to Wolf Trap on Saturday, May 28, for a live broadcast performance of A Prairie Home Companion.

This will be Garrison Keillor’s final live appearance at Wolf Trap before his retirement at the end of the season. This could be your last chance to see Garrison Keillor himself deliver the "News from Lake Wobegon." In addition, the show will feature classic comedy sketches (such as a possible "Guy Noir" appearance) and music by special guests Heather Masse, Chris Thile, and Vince Giordano and the Nighthawks.

Our April 5th Books and Brews featured Music journalist Preston Lauterbach, author of Beale Street Dynasty and The Chitlin' Circuit. About 75 people came out to hear Preston speak at Pale Fire Brewing Company in Harrisonburg. Many also stayed to hear blues musician Austin Shifflett.
