Viewing Jefferson Through a Different Prism

Lucia Stanton spent years studying the life of Thomas Jefferson without giving much thought to the issue of slavery.

That all began to change when she embarked on an ambitious research project taking almost two decades to complete.

We talk with “Cinder” Stanton about that project.  And its relationship to her new book.

Guest:
Lucia Stanton - Former Director of Research and Shannon Senior Historian Emerita for the Thomas Jefferson Foundation at Monticello. Author of Those Who Labor for My Happiness: Slavery at Thomas Jefferson’s Monticello (2012, University of Virginia Press).

Tom Graham was Senior Producer and host of WMRA's Virginia Insight from 2006 to 2015.
