New Weekend Schedule for WMRA

WMRA is offering some exciting new weekend programs.

  • You have a second chance to hear about the amazing accomplishments and passionate pursuits of your neighbors and friends with an encore presentation of The Spark, Saturdays at 3pm.
  • Radiolab, one of the most innovative programs in public radio, has a permanent home, Saturdays at 4pm.
  • BackStory with the American History Guys in now on Sundays at 4pm.
  • WMRA’s Public Radio Showcase Sunday at 10pm.

In addition to the original broadcast, each Friday at Noon, WMRA now presents an encore broadcast of The Spark.  It's WMRA’s own creative look at --well-- creativity. Spend Saturday afternoons digging into whatever people are passionate about in the WMRA region:  sculpture, model railroading, costume-making, poetry, film, bike repair, ballet, landscapes… or any other wonderfully obsessive thing our listeners our engaged in.

Radiolab, one of the most innovative programs in public radio, now has a permanent home on WMRA.  Saturday, at 4pm, you can investigate big questions, tinker with amazing observations, and listen as concepts build and grow. Each episode of Radiolab, hosted by Jad Abumrad and Robert Krulwich, is an experiential investigation in sound and style... allowing science to fuse with culture and information to sound like music. Bring your curiosity, and we will feed it with possibility.

BackStory with the American History Guys is now a weekly occurrence on WMRA.  Each Sunday afternoon at 4, you can hear Ed Ayers, Peter Onuf, and Brian Balogh tear a topic from the headlines and plumb its historical depths.  Together, the American History Guys bring over 100 years of cumulative teaching experience to their new weekly show, BackStory, and we’re excited to share it with you, Sundays at 4pm, on WMRA.

WMRA’s Public Radio Showcase is now on Sunday night at 10pm, you can hear some of the best documentaries and conversations that public radio has to offer.  We’re currently featuring NPR’s TED Radio Hour - A journey through fascinating ideas, astonishing inventions, and new ways to think and create. Based on riveting TEDTalks from the world's most remarkable minds.
