What do we need to understand about poverty?

Perhaps... that on many measures in the industrialized world, America ranks near the bottom?

Or that lack of good health may be the biggest stumbling block for those trying to get out of poverty?

Or even more, that you really cannot understand poverty until you’ve spent time among the poor?
