Hidden Prejudice... Of The Political Kind
Perhaps you have heard of Project Implicit. It is a Virginia-connected research operation that’s been making huge strides uncovering bias and prejudice. (Often of the type that most of us never knew we had.)
Now, Project Implicit is out with a new study.
This one reveals that those who call themselves “political independents” often have biases they have been hiding from themselves.
Guests:
Carlee Beth Hawkins - Lead author of Motivated independence? Implicit party identity predicts political judgments among self-proclaimed independents (Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin; August, 2012.) Psychology doctoral candidate, University of Virginia.
Brian Nosek, Ph.D. - Co-founder and Director of the multi-university research group Project Implicit. Associate Professor of Psychology as well as Principal Investigator for the Implicit Social Cognition Laboratory at the University of Virginia. Co-author of Motivated independence? Implicit party identity predicts political judgments among self-proclaimed independents (Personality and Social Psychology Bulletin; August, 2012.)
