The Great Blue Ridge Removal

It has been almost 80 years since close to 500 Virginia families were forced from their homes so the Shenandoah National Park could be created.

The fact that most Americans are unaware of that bit of our history is something a number of Virginia based activists are now trying to change.

Guests:
Claire Comer -
Park Service Interpretative Specialist at Shenandoah National Park.

Bill Henry - Volunteer organizer with the Blue Ridge Heritage Project.

Mark Purington - Digital Content Coordinator for James Madison University’s Carrier Library, which houses the Shenandoah National Park Oral History collection.
