Books & Brews, May 2016

Our May 2016 Books & Brews featured journalist and visiting senior research scholar at the University of Richmond, Stephen Nash. Nash is also the author of Virginia Climate Fever: How Global Warming Will Transform our Cities, Shorelines and Forests, a very readable book that brings the timely subject of global warming home to our own Virginia backyards. He explored both the science and the economics of climate change in our state, as well as introducing us to the people actively involved in formulating the discussion about it.

In his conversation with Martha Woodroof, Stephen Nash said he decided to do this book because, after thirty years of living in Virginia and reporting on the environment, "it had become the biggest science story and the biggest environmental story and the biggest political story on the horizon for our generation and many generations to come." It had become, he said, the story he just couldn't look around.

Stephen Nash was ensconced on the, "author's stool," for WMRA's May 2016 Books & Brews. And as always, it happened at Pale Fire Brewing Company in Harrisonburg. Barnes and Noble was also on hand selling copies of Virginia Climate Fever during the event.

All WMRA members were able to present their WMRA MemberCard to receive a certificate for a complimentary beer.

One last thing: Stephen Nash was recently awarded the 2015 AIP Science Writing Award for Books, which you can read about here.
