The Avtex Legacy

On this episode of The Spark: Ralph Bolgiano remembers being part of the 1989 study that shut down AVTEX in Front Royal and put a stop to a major source of pollution in the South Fork of the Shenandoah River.

Remember when the whole town of Front Royal stank from pollutants dumped into the South Fork of the Shenandoah River by AVTEX? In the late eighties, Ralph Bolgiano was working as a field monitor for the then-named Water Quality Board, and he was the guy who collected the data that finally shut down the AVTEX plant.
