On this edition of The Spark: Martha Woodroof steps aside and lends the interview chair to JMUPresident Jon Alger.
In this special broadcast, President Alger interviews three James Madison University students about their academic life and their campus experience.
The Students:
Joe Balsamo
Joe grew up in New Jersey, although his family now lives in Colorado. He studied developmental neuroscience as a member of the Gabriele lab in the JMU biology department and won the prestigious Hillcrest and Goldwater Scholarships. When he’s not working, Joe enjoys skiing and playing hockey.
He is graduating in May with a B.S. in Biotechnology.
Sarah Golibart
Sarah Golibart is a senior English major and Creative Writing and Anthropology minor at James Madison University. She’s an emerging poet, as well as a lover of sustainable agriculture, long distance running, and cycling.
Sarah gains poetic and spiritual inspiration from the sandy soil of her family's farm on the Eastern Shore of Virginia and the rolling fields of the Shenandoah Valley.
With graduate school in Secondary Education on the horizon, Sarah hopes to soon teach poetry alongside a bountiful, educational garden.
Katharine Elizabeth (Kea) Allis
Kea is a junior Media Arts & Design and Music Industry student. She can be found behind a mic a WXJM 88.7FM, booking shows with the University Program Board, or marathoning movies with her roommates.
