Ever wonder how a work of art is made? We often see the finished product but not the process. Artists will be working in their studios, ready to answer your questions as they demonstrate their work. Come see art in action with McGuffey artists Scott Smith, Maddie Rhondeau, Nancy Galloway, Jean Sampson, Eileen French and Allison Berner who work in a variety of media from photography to painting, from pastels to drawing. In this digital age, the opportunities to engage in the creative process are even more meaningful. This event is appropriate for all ages. No knowledge of art is required to enjoy the demonstrations and participate in informal conversations about the artistic process. Says organizer and acclaimed fiber artist, Jill Kerttula: “Demo Day was started as one of the ways McGuffey Artists give back to the city. It is an informal and casual way for individuals or groups to come and interact with the artists and see us in action!” Painter Maddie Rhondeau says, about why she likes to participate in Demo Days: “They are such a great way for the public to interact with their artist neighbors. I personally like to engage with people about my art and talk about its origins and hear peoples’ reactions.” Rhondeau will be working on two large 4 x8 foot paintings on Saturday and you can follow her on Instagram at @merhondeau. McGuffey Demo(nstration) Days are held multiple times a year and are a feast for the soul and the senses, offering visitors the opportunity to observe their creative process first hand and a chance to interact with the artist. These demonstrations leave our visitors with inspiration and a deeper appreciation of the creative process for each medium they see. McGuffey is always open to the public and renting artists are usually in their studios. But on Demo Days, you are guaranteed to see artists working and ready to chat.
